We start with the problem in your home, then explain what to check before spending money. A useful guide should leave you with a clearer shopping note—or a reason not to buy anything.
Specifications are not product tests
We haven't tested these products. Where a guide describes a product feature, we identify the maker's source and the date checked. A manufacturer's performance claim remains a claim, even when we can confirm what the specification says.
We use official sources for safety, privacy and regulatory guidance. Each guide lists its sources. A checked date means those sources were reviewed on that date; it does not mean every fact will remain unchanged afterwards.
What our tools can tell you
- The smart home checklist compares the requirements you enter with your setup. Unknown information stays unknown.
- The window fit checker compares your measurements and conditions with requirements you supply from the maker. It cannot inspect your glass or confirm safe installation.
- The ownership-cost calculator uses your prices and assumptions. It excludes electricity, does not predict future price changes and does not rank products by quality.
Read each tool's assumptions and worked example before relying on a result. Check the exact product manual before purchase. If an essential requirement cannot be confirmed, wait for clarification from the maker.
Prices, links and corrections
We do not scrape retailer prices. The calculators take your own figures; guides do not promise a current price. Advertising links are labelled Ad and explained in our affiliate disclosure.
Tell us about a possible error at [email protected]. Include the page address, what appears wrong and the primary source if available. We assess corrections against the source rather than quietly filling gaps with guesses.
